Description

Generoso Pope: Dreamer, Doer and Essence of the American Dream

Thursday, April 2 at 7:00 PM

Generoso Pope arrived in the US in 1906 at age fifteen with less than $10 in his pocket. Earning $3 a week carrying water for construction crews at Colonial Sand & Stone, he purchased the failing company with all of its debt and eventually made it the largest sand and gravel company in the world. He built a media empire, which included Il Progresso Italo-Americano, the largest Italian-language daily in the US. In celebration of Generoso’s birthday on April 1, David Anthony Pope, his great grandson, will dive into his ancestor’s compelling story and lasting legacy. The engaging lecture will be followed with a reception of birthday cake! Please note that this lecture, previously advertised as starting at 7:00pm, has been changed to a start time of 7:30pm.

Presented by David Anthony Pope, President and CEO, Generoso Pope Foundation.

Members $20, Non-Members $30
